Donation Pick Up and Drop Off Information

When you drop off a donation or schedule a donation pick up to ReStore, you are supporting our mission of providing decent affordable housing to low-income families. In addition, your donation helps our community divert tons of material from landfills each year. When you donate to ReStore, you are providing your neighbors with a low cost alternative to purchasing new furniture and building materials.

**please note all donations must be in working order and clean. We are unable to accept any donations which are broken, torn, frayed, or dangerous in anyway. We reserve the right to decline a donation based on store capacity and/or our ability to resell the items.

Donations

ReStore® can’t succeed without your donations, check out  What We Accept. Here are some donation basics:

  • Items may be dropped off Monday-Saturday 9 am-4 pmat Gaithersburg’s Habitat ReStore.
  • For donation questions, contact us at 301-947-3304 or email at ReStore@habitat-mc.org. If possible, please e-mail a picture.
  • For larger items, please contact the ReStore donation office, 301-947-3304(option 3), to schedule a pick-up.
  • Donation pick-up area is limited to Montgomery County, MD.
  • All donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
  • For pick up of items ReStore is unable to accept or if you need immediate service, contact our newest hauling alternative, College Hunks Hauling Junk. They offer a 48-Hour Priority Service, which includes the removal of junk and other items ReStore cannot accept. Mention ReStore and get a discount!
  • Legal restrictions prevent us from accepting some items.Also, we have limited storage capacity and may be unableto receive overstocked items. If we are unable to acceptyour donation, ask us for a list of other donation anddisposal centers that may be able to assist you.

Holiday Shoppe

ReStore is accepting Holiday Shoppe donations throughout the year. Please bring all Holiday Shoppe donation items in an unsealed box with a list of enclosed items.

Monetary donations

Monetary donations are always appreciated. Please make checks out to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County ReStore.

Corporate Donations

We ask, when convenient, that corporate donations be brought to us on Mondays between the hours of 9am – 4pm. If it is not possible to deliver the items at the specified time, please contact Adeela Abbasi, Marketing and Communications Manager at adeela.abbasi@habitat-mc.org or 301-990-0014 ext. 16, to schedule a mutually convenient delivery time.

If a donation must be picked up please contact Adeela Abbasi to arrange a pick-up time.

Area Rugs New or excellent condition
Cabinets Must be complete units, structurally intact; must have doors, shelving, display racks, etc.; single cabinets (pieces) will be taken on a case by case basis
Flooring material Vinyl no less than 25 sq ft., new hardwood complete boxes, ceramic tile no less than 25 sq ft. *We do not accept scraps of any type of flooring materials.
FurnitureSofas, love seats, coffee tables, bedroom furniture, dining room Must be good to excellent condition (no tears, stains, etc.), structurally intact. We do not accept used mattresses or commercial office furniture.
LightingKitchen/dining room chandeliers and sconces, compact florescent bulbs, lamps (standing/table top) Must be working with all parts
Lumber Millwork (clean, trim/millwork must be 7’ or longer), vinyl base, decking material, fencing material, de nailed/de stapled
Mirrors Mirrors with frames only. We do not accept unframed mirrors or glass
Plumbing Must be complete, very clean, and in good condition; heavy duty faucet fixtures, faucets, parts, pedestal sinks, toilets (1.6 gallon/low flush only)
Roofing New
Windows Only matching sets, insulated glass; we do not accept sashes
